Evaluation Assessment:

In order to assess the impact of this module to the trainees that have taken the course, an evaluation of the students needs to be developed to assess whether the students are able to achieve the intended attitudinal, knowledge and skills objectives. More importantly, we need to ensure that they put these new acquisitions into practice to carry out the knowledge translation of the MDGs into the very fabric of their future practices both locally in their communities and globally in their international work.

In addition, it is also important to measure the impact of this course to the global health system, whether we will be able to contribute to knowledge and capacity building, how our students from this course actually help meet to achieving the MDG targets, and the effectiveness of this course in the training of future trainers and MDG champions to propagate knowledge transfer.

We therefore intend to develop an evaluation framework to measure changes in both individual and system levels. This framework will include but not be limited to examining:

On the individual student level:

::

The course helped students achieved the intended objectives;

::

The course helped raise awareness of MDGs and helped students apply these understandings into their local and international work

::

To identify similar academic endeavours and collaborate with them

On the system’s level:

::

The level of awareness of MDG goals amongst academic institutions, and their commitment to carry out education and training of MDGs in their core curriculum;

::

The course increased the capacity of MDG implementation, in terms of the number of champions and implementers, their geographic distribution, and the types and alignment of projects that contribute substantially to the MDG targets;

::

The infrastructure that allows sharing of best practices and knowledge in global health initiatives and the subsequent translation of these models and wisdom between different communities globally

::

To identify similar academic endeavours and collaborate with them

This evaluation framework will facilitate both formative and summative evaluations so as to measure both iterative progress over time and also the substantial attainment of the objectives over time respectively.
